Having obtained a PhD in Chemistry and worked in a lab, the job market made me re-evaluate my goals and rethink what I wanted to do with my life. I discovered that there was a need for editors and writers in science-related fields; working first as an assistant helping develop school science textbooks before entering the world of medical education and communications. I have been working as a medical editor and writer for nearly five years, helping develop publication plans and customized communications for the pharmaceutical industry. More information on my career can be found on my linkedin page – uk.linkedin.com/in/alexanderbjones.
When I was at university there was very little training on communication or marketing skills, both of which are important nowadays for anyone working in science. This blog is my attempt to share some of the things I have learned and hopefully help people who want to know more about writing or editing scientific documents or developing publication plans.
